If only I survive this lockdown
I promise to play more
I promise to be more loving
I promise to express more to my beloved
If only I survive this lockdown
I promise to be more disciplined
I promise to be more of service
If only I survive this lockdown
I promise to work more sincerely
I promise to save more and spend less
If only I survive this lockdown
I promise to take of my beloved #MotherEarth
I promise to make less noise
That disturbs the birds and the animals
That disturbs the forests and its serenity
If only I survive this lockdown
I promise to set the animals and the birds free
I now realize the cage that I bind them in
I will survive this lockdownI fear
I will forget my promises
I have done so in the past,
Whether it is Ebola or Sars
Whether it is the plague or cholera
Will you remind me to keep my promise?
I will remind you to keep yours
O human being
If only I survive this lockdown
I will, and this time I will own my role
In this mess that I blame others for,
It doesn’t matter which country it began
Because the grave is just the same
Whether here or a foreign land
Cold and dark, 6 feet under
Or ashes in some other parts of the world
If only I survive this lockdown
I will change my organization culture, to care and to share
I will change my family culture, to care and to share
I will be the harbinger of change, within me and around me
How much I now realize,
The true meaning of freedom,
To accept all as equal,
Knowing that all have their roles to play,
Some more and some less, yet they do
Nature shows that in her actions
She offers us a choice,
To rise and shine,
Or to perish into dust, clinging to our intelligence and ego,
Which is useless 6 feet under
If only I survive this lockdown
