Let me tell you a story…once upon a time there lived…we all have read stories as kids and much like the kids continue to read stories even today. As human beings, we love stories being told, being created and being shared.
The journey of the story is indeed an interesting story.
Stories began as word of mouth before man discovered stone tablets and paper. The early human moved together as a nomadic tribe and come night, lit a camp fire and pop, the elders came out with their goodies of stories.
Then man discovered stone tablets and paper, and slowly the spoken word got cast in stone and print. Very soon, man discovered that every human being loves stories and so the local story started becoming a global story with translations in multiple languages and transcending boundaries. Remember, the pen-pal days and the days when as kids we waited for our monthly magazine to be available at our local store. Whether it was reading an Archie magazine or MAD, the superman and batman victories, the magic of Mandrake or the simplicity of Suppandi, it was a real world indeed that came alive. Oh how can I forget Alice in wonderland with whom I travelled many a times.
Then came the black and white box called the Television which took our childhood by storm. Uncle Walt and his magic charmed us and so did Tom and Jerry. James T Kirk was indeed the lucky man alive as the teenager in me fantasized his adventures where man has gone before 🙂 I still remember vividly my first colour television experience. I am sure you do too. :-))
Came the digital world, and soon spoken story and written story went live by the second with Facebook updates, Instagram and tweets and WhatsApp status and much more….
The central story line in all of the above is our love for stories.
As a specie, we are constantly creating, re-creating and sharing stories. Soon enough, we may have inter-planetary stories in the next century, you never know.
I believe our world would end if stories disappeared…my story, your story, our story, organization story, country story and the list is endless…..what do you think?
